The Truth Project 2012
1300  Project points

As a final assessment for this unit, you will complete a creative project that answers the question:

What is the truth about war?

You should use both The Things They Carried and one other source to show ONE specific truth about an aspect of the war experience.

Your second source can include:
¨       Poetry by veterans
¨       Quotes from Eddie Falcon’s presentation
¨       Historical facts you learned in class (Gulf of Tonkin, Agent Orange, Zinn Article)
¨       Trần Thị Hoan’s letter

Your final product can be anything, but it must include the following:
¨       A strong truth statement (this is like the thesis for your project)
¨       3 quotes from The Things They Carried
¨       2-3 quotes or facts from a second source
¨       Analysis that shows how all quotes and/or facts support your truth statement
¨       A correctly formatted works cited page
¨       Some form of original artwork.  You are able to blend original work with other work you find in magazines and  newspapers.
¨       An explanation of how your artwork connects to your truth statement and why you chose that format. In your explanation, discuss why you used particular symbol, image or script?   How does your medium support your truth statement?  What do you want people to think and feel when they see your project? What do you want the audience to go away with?

Your project may be in any format you want, but it must be approved by your teacher first! Some possibilities include:
¨       A video
¨       A poster
¨       A power point (which you will present)
