In class, we started Act II- read up to page 59. As you read, be sure to "post-it note" quotes connected to one of the five themes. Also, be sure to answer questions from the Study Guide.
We will finish Act II tomorrow in class. Bring any clarifying questions you have about what is going on with the play.

HW Tuesday, October 25th

(1) Finish reading Act I of the play- as you read, be sure to post it quotes connected to one of the five themes (review overview- pink sheet)
(2) Finish study guide questions- questions 13-20 (questions 17-20 requires you to put on your critical thinking hat and look "under the surface" witht the text)
(3) Choose 3 quotes and respond to them (again, review the overview).
Be ready for a great class discussion tomorrow!!!!

Ms. McEnany's class - just finish Act I & do the rest of the study guide (So basically just do 1 & 2 listed above).

HW Monday, October 24th

Be sure to read the feedback your T gave you on your rough draft. Final draft is due tomorrow. Remember: your final draft must be 12 point font, Times New Roman and double spaced. You will need to highlight any changes you made AND be sure to have the rough draft with you,

We just started the play "The Crucible"- read to the botoom of page 32 where Rev, Hale enters.

Complete the Study Guide questions up to question #12. Pull out facts from the play to help answer the questions- no need to write in complete sentences- but your answers need to be fully detailed with lots of info from the play.

HW Wednesday, October 12th

College Faire is today at Serramonte. Be sure to find Ms. Collins to get the "coveted" signature. In order to complete the extra credit points, you must complete the assignment and turn it by Friday, October 14th.

Vocab Test III- Friday, October 14th. Review your vocab words starting from list 1 - list 6. Study all 12 words.

Rough draft of your position paper is due Friday, October 14th in the beginning of class.

Friday is a big day for assingments and due dates. Manage your days wisely for the next two days.

HW Tuesday, October 11th

We went over in class how to do a "Position Paper". A senior exhibition POV was given as example and we went over different aspects of the POV (intro, evidence, explanation how evidence ties to argument).
For HW, you are to do a few things: (1) come up with your own defintion of the American dream you will use in your position paper, (2) answer to the EQ prompt (this is your thesis) and start on the outline of your "body"- you need to have 3 different claims, provide evidence/proof and explain how evidence/proof support your claim. Your last part of your outline is the conclusion- provide plan of action- what needs to happen to make the dream a reality or continue to happen if you argue the dream is a reality.
Outline is due tomorrow to your Humanities teacher 75 project points!!!!

HW Monday, October 3rd

We returned your RD conclusion/AWCP. Be sure to read and follow ALL the feedback on your rough drafts. We spent a good time in the computer lab where you continued to work on your group powerpoint. Powerpoint is due tomorrow, Tuesday, October 4th. You will need to "drop" your PPT into your teacher's inbox by the beginning of class. You will also need to bring in a print out of your PPT to be used in class on Tuesday. Also bring note cards.
